Three hours of sleep, overloaded elevators, upset city, and our favorite college baseball stats

We're running on empty in this one, folks. Ben is in Toronto doing god knows what and Marc was up until 6:30AM for some reason, so this is really a "what's left in the tank" sort of episode. We kick things off with an analysis of one of our pre-season players to watch: Jace Jung. We talk about how he's been tearing the cover off the ball as of late and how it was only a matter of time. After that we discuss the new top dog in the ACC (hint: it's the title of an old Will Smith song). We also talk SEC play and specifically Florida taking the series vs. Arkansas. Then it's on to highlighting some incredible player performances this past week: notably Kevin Parada of Georgia Tech and Connor Hjerpe of Oregon State. His real name is Cooper but just pretend like it's Connor for this episode. We jump around a bit to talk about some upsets here and there, and also have a discussion on snow baseball which is near and dear to both of our hearts. We close this quick episode out with our top 5 favorite stats in college baseball so far this year.

BASEBALL IS WEIRD: The infection is spreading, Gatorade & coffee, 16-hour bus rides, and severely Atheist umpires

BASEBALL IS WEIRD: The infection is spreading, Gatorade & coffee, 16-hour bus rides, and severely Atheist umpires

This episode, much like USF's right fielder Jackson Mayo, has a ton of range. Marc and Ben dive into another entertaining week of college baseball, beginning with the hottest team in the world right now... The Tennessee Volunteers. The two razz Chase Burns for having a really bad outing that was actually a really good outing, and talk about the other dominant performances from the Vols' starters. They also talk about Vanderbilt and the crazy new lights at their stadium which came back to bite them this weekend, though they did look cool after home runs. After a contractually obligated mention of Enrique Bradfield Jr., the duo stays on the topic of stolen bases and discusses a few instances of stealing home and how it can be a recipe for success. Then, unfortunately, you'll hear a phrase you hoped never to hear (hint: you may have an STD if you played against Oregon State this weekend), and why that is the case. After that Ben and Marc answer the question going through the minds of Longhorns fans everywhere: when is it okay to start worrying about Texas? Maybe Kevin Durant will come on the podcast to discuss. Following a brief eulogy for the undefeated Banana Hammocks of ETSU it's onto every team's worst nightmare... double digit hour bus rides. The two pay their respects to College of Charleston and Old Dominion who suffered the ill fate of having to drive 11 and 16 hours, respectively, back home after road series' this weekend. There's also talk of Notre Dame sweeping Florida State, and while on the topic of Christianity we have to mention an interesting thing that happened with Liberty's star player Derek Orndorff. Finally its onto talk of gatorade and coffee cocktails and imagining your family getting shot in the face, courtesy of the great Gary Vee. This was a fun one.

MARCH MADNESS: Wild Walk Offs, Immaculate Innings, Four-Homer Games, and our College Baseball Top 10

MARCH MADNESS: Wild Walk Offs, Immaculate Innings, Four-Homer Games, and our College Baseball Top 10

Marc and Ben recap what can only be described as a WILD weekend of college baseball. As they say, the real March Madness happens on the diamond and this weekend proved it. The two discuss the Texas vs. Texas Tech series at length, including the dramatic finishes to games one and two and the not-so-dramatic finish to the series. After that it's time to talk about the most anticipated series of the year so far: Tennessee vs. Ole Miss. The duo highlights Tennessee's pitching staff and it's red-hot offense, as well as tipping their (rally) caps to a podcast favorite Rebel. After that it's a rapid fire recap consisting of the undefeated ETSU yellow uniforms, an immaculate inning, back-to-back-to-back-to-back bombs, a four home run performance, Tommy Tanks, Big Ten baseball, and just about everything else that happened this weekend. The two also laugh about a certain team's mascot, which Marc confuses for something you might find in a Smurf brothel. The show finishes with our own personal top 10 team rankings, which have a lot in common but are also very different. Tune in to see who we picked!

RELEASE THE HOUNDS: Umpire roast, back flips, and zero gravity slides

RELEASE THE HOUNDS: Umpire roast, back flips, and zero gravity slides

Marc and Ben cover a ton of ground in this week's episode. As always the duo gets into everything that happened this past week in college baseball, including the best celebration of the week, a gravity-defying slide, and some brutal calls by umpires. They also discuss conference play starting and Arkansas continuing its win streak, Mississippi State being the most confusing team in the country, and JAKE GELOF IS SLUGGING WHAT??? The two discuss the dominant University of Virginia team and the only other team that might be able to hang with them down the road... Tennessee. Ben Joyce's should-be-illegal 104 mph fastball is discussed at length and, of course, Ben takes the opportunity to mention his hit against Shane McClanahan. We also talk about shirtless frat bros in the stands, what goes into college baseball scouting reports, and why we feel the need to apologize to Texas State fans. There's also a dog delay in there somewhere. It's another fun episode and we hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed recording.

Beers in the Bullpen: Midweek Madness, Weekend College Baseball Recap, D1 Player Draft

Beers in the Bullpen: Midweek Madness, Weekend College Baseball Recap, D1 Player Draft

Marc and Ben are back to recap a wild week of college baseball. In their first week without a guest in a long time, they dive into the Texas vs. Texas State midweek series and talk about everything that happened on the field as well as the implications of "Horns Down" and why some players might be driven to drinking in the bullpen. Next Marc shares his love for the SEC and talks about his alma mater, South Carolina, stealing a series from the then-top-ranked Texas. After Marc basks in the glory it's onto Zach Neto & Campbell (#RollHumps) vs. Derek Orndorff & Liberty, Arkansas's sweep of UIC, DBU's impressive sweep of podcast-favorite Southern Miss, and then the duo gets into the exciting west coast rivalry between UCLA and USC. After talking walk-off balks, the banana hammocks of ETSU, and some gushing over late-game small ball, it's time to answer some fan questions. The episode ends with a draft of the best division one players in the country -- let us know whose team you'd rather have!
